This years Edenbridge & Oxted Show Wrought Ironwork Schedule:

SCHEDULE 2014

WROUGHT IRONWORK COMPETITIONS CLASSES:

A       TRADITIONAL (Made by hammer and hand)

B       CONTEMPORARY (Any method of construction)

C       GATES (Any method of construction)

D       INDUSTRIAL & AGRICULTURAL (Any method of construction)

E       NOVELTY – Any article relating to “bees” and honey making apparatus      (Any method of construction)

F       LIVE COMPETITION – Make a set of balancing scales, decorative central stand with balance arm. No preformed dishes allowed or pre-made chains minimum height 400mm

Time allowed 1.5 hours

G       LIVE PAIRS – Make a small garden mattock from 40x30mm (material supplied by organizers)

Time allowed 50 mins

H       LIVE 20 MIN COMPETITION (Time allowing) – Entries taken on the day only. No cleaning time. Objects made will be auctioned for charity.

Time allowed 20 mins

NB: There is no “extra” clean up time allowed after any of the live competitions.

PRIZES FOR ALL CLASSES

1st £40, 2nd£30, 3rd £20,   Prize cards and rosettes to 6th place

All prize money will be in the form of a cheque

The “JOHN DENTON MEMORIAL TROPHY” and £40 will be awarded to

THE WINNING STATIC ENTRY VOTED BY THE PUBLIC

TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED IN ALL CLASSES

NATIONAL BLACKSMITHS COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE

CHAMPION BLACKSMITH OF THE YEAR

The Edenbridge and Oxted Show is a nominated Show at which points will be awarded towards the Champion Blacksmith of the Year and Best Blacksmith of the Year as follows:

            Winner of the Championship              10 points                                               Reserve Champion                                4 points

RULES & CONDITIONS

IRONWORK:

  1. Classes A, B, C, D, E, & F: each entry to be an original and completed piece of work and not to have been previously entered at this Show in any format.

  2. All entries to be delivered to the marquee by 9am on Sunday August 24th 2014 and remain on display until the closure of the Show on Monday 25th August 2014.

  3. Judging will commence at 11am 25th August for classes A,B,C,D. Judging for classes E,F,G will take place on completion of the final round on Monday 25th August 2014.

  4. Only officials and competitors/strikers for the class in progress will be allowed in the Forge area.

  5. Safety equipment must be worn at all times.

Whilst every care will be taken of the exhibits during the time they are in the show ground the committee cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage, from whatever cause arising, the exhibits being entered at the sole risk of the competitors.

ALL COMPETITORS:

  1.  All competitors must provide their own tools.

  2. Competitors are required to report half an hour before the starting time of their Class and must be ready to commence work at the time notified.

  3. The judge’s decision on all entries is final.All entries must be received by 18th august 2014.

  4. All trophies are the property of the Organisers and must be returned ONE month prior to the show date.

  5. Competitors of all classes must be available for the prize presentation on Monday 25th August. Failure to do so may result in forfeiting any prize money or trophies.

  6. Any competitor wishing to lodge an objection must make the same in writing with a deposit of £25. The Committee will consider such an objection and the decision of the Committee shall be final.
